Baby mimosa transplant

These come from my grandparents’ house in what was until recently no man’s land outside of Norman city limits. I know that redbuds are the state trees, but I can’t help but think of mimosas when I think of home. They pretty much grow everywhere, so I’m positive these little guys just so happened to find their way into an empty pot. I hope they’ll do mildly well in this central Texas weather 😉

Latin name of the plant, “Mimosa pudica”, originates from unusual habit of the plant to shrink its leaves when touched (“pudica” means “bashful”). Mimosa is also known as sensitive plant, humble plant, touch-me-not, sleeping grass and shameful plant.
